Today, I tested a Christmas cookie recipe I found on Pinterest because where else would a modern human go for new recipes? I wanted to bring something home for the holidays, and you really can’t go wrong with cookies.
The recipe is from Sally’s Baking Addiction, and she actually made two varieties of the same cookie: a vanilla sugar cookie with sprinkles and a chocolate crinkle cookie, both with Candy Cane Hershey’s Kisses. For my test run, I only tried the sugar vanilla cookie with sprinkles, but the ingredients for the chocolate crinkle cookie are pretty similar, so I might try those over the weekend.
It was basically just an excuse for me to buy the Candy Cane Kisses, but they also look super festive, and my family is not known to turn down any cookie. (It’s kind of a Pittsburgh thing…if you’ve ever been to an Italian wedding in that part of the country, then you’ve probably experienced the ‘Cookie Table‘ and your life was changed.)
The recipe was super easy to follow and it turned out really well, so I’m just going to suggest that you check it out over on the original site. Everything was explained really thoroughly, and there are lots of details to make them just right…there’s nothing more I need to add except YUM!
(And grab one of those holiday sprinkle mix containers with like 6 different types of sprinkles in one for super easy decorating…it’s only about a dollar or two more than a regular jar with just one type.)
The only thing I missed was the King Arthur flour…I didn’t see this note until after I had all my ingredients, and if I had used it, I’m guessing my cookies would have turned out a little thicker:
I strongly recommend King Arthur flour because this flour has a higher protein content than any other flour on the market. More protein in flour results in thicker cookies. – Sally from Sally’s Baking Addiction
They’re still tasty, though and turned out thick enough to create a little bed for the Kisses, so all is well in my kitchen. Andddd now I have plenty of leftover Kisses to enjoy for the rest of the holiday season.
P.s. One week until Kiss-Mas!! 🎄
